About Soil Health Foundation
We are a dedicated non-profit working to restore degraded soils, empower farming communities, and build a sustainable agricultural future across India.
Our Mission
To restore and regenerate degraded soils across India through science-backed interventions, community-driven programs, and farmer education — ensuring food security, ecological balance, and improved livelihoods for millions of farming families.
Our Vision
A future where every acre of farmland in India is rich, living, and productive — where healthy soils sustain thriving ecosystems, nourish communities, and contribute to a climate-resilient agricultural landscape for generations to come.
Why Soil Health Matters
Healthy soil is the foundation of life. It feeds us, filters our water, stores carbon, and supports the biodiversity that keeps our planet thriving.
Food Security
95% of our food comes from soil. Degraded soils mean lower yields, reduced nutrition, and greater vulnerability to hunger for millions.
Climate Change
Soil holds three times more carbon than the atmosphere. Restoring soil health is one of the most effective climate change mitigation strategies available.
Farmer Livelihoods
Healthy soils reduce input costs, increase crop resilience, and improve yields — directly boosting the income and wellbeing of smallholder farming families.
Biodiversity
A single teaspoon of healthy soil contains more organisms than people on Earth. Soil biodiversity underpins entire ecosystems above and below ground.
Our Approach
We follow a proven four-step methodology that combines cutting-edge research with grassroots community action to create lasting change.
Research-Driven Solutions
We partner with leading agricultural universities and research institutions to develop evidence-based soil restoration protocols tailored to India's diverse agro-climatic zones. Every intervention is tested, measured, and refined before scaling.
Community Engagement
We work directly with farming communities, understanding their unique challenges and co-creating solutions that respect traditional knowledge. Our village-level coordinators ensure that programs are accessible, relevant, and locally owned.
Capacity Building
Through hands-on training workshops, demonstration farms, and digital learning resources, we equip farmers with practical skills in soil testing, composting, bio-inputs preparation, and integrated nutrient management.
Sustainable Practices
We promote regenerative agricultural practices — cover cropping, crop rotation, minimal tillage, and organic amendments — that restore soil health while maintaining productivity and profitability for farmers.
Organizational Model
Transparency, collaboration, and accountability are at the core of how we operate.
